ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; THURSDAY 8TH FEBRUARY, 2024.
TEXT: ROMANS 10: 5 - 15.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: FAITH AND BELIEF BRINGS SALVATION.
Last year we heard how Paul was worried because of his brothers - the Jews, who were against the way of Christ. The Jews were very strict about their religion by following the Law of Moses. Moses in the reading of today, talked about the righteousness that is obtained by following the law (verse 5).
Therefore, all the sfforts of the Jews, to ensure their salvation was through their own righteousness. This is impossible because the only way to be saved is made clear to us (verse 8) and it is not difficult. It is there for everyone, it is, "believe that Jesus is Lord... and God raised him from the dead..." (verse 9) that is, whoever believes that Jesus is Lord, God will raise him from the grave and he will be SAVED because God will forgive him.
Today there are people like these "JEWS" among us who want to ensure their salvation through their own righteousness. Brother, don't be like them, thinking that God will accept you because of your efforts, or because of your good deeds. This is a big mistake. Your efforts will not save you because it is by grace that we are saved through FAITH in Christ, not because of our works or abilities.
Everything God has done for us, and is still doing today, is a gift. Because of this we have no reason to brag or boast (Ephesians 2: I, 9). All we can do is to THANK God for this gift.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Salvation is God's gift.
PRAYER: O Lord God, I thank You for the salvation You have won for me through Christ Jesus, Amen.
