ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; MONDAY 6TH NOVEMBER, 2023.
TEXT: PSALMS 66: 1 - 13.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: PRAISE BE TO GOD.
King David, in his lifetime, was a man of great prayer. This we have seen in our studies. The prayer is divided into three parts. He began by calling on the Lord to thank Him for hearing the prayers of His children.
He followed this with thanking and asking God for forgiveness for his sins (verse 3 and 4). He then concludes with words of praise to the Lord for His power (vs. 5 - 13). He prayed earnestly because the sinner's prayer did not reach God because He hates those who do evil (Ps. 34: 16), except when they sincerely pray for forgiveness.
This is the reason David often begins his prayer with that of forgiveness of his sins before presenting his life was humble, that is, he did not see himself as anything. This is something we should strive to imitate because pride leads to destruction.
So, do we have this attitude? If not, like David today let us humble ourselves before God and He will surely elevate us. In life, we should examine ourselves as to whether we are interested in the good qualities that David possessed.
It will benefit us if we humble ourselves before the Lord and receive His blessings. We often suffer because of pride, ungratefulness and lack of proper praise to God.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God opposes the arrogant.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech Thee, open my eyes to see the good that thou doest in me in Jesus' name, Amen.
PSALMS 66: 1 - 13 (NLT).
1 Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth!
2 Sing about the glory of his name!
Tell the world how glorious he is.
3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
Your enemies cringe before your mighty power.
4 Everything on earth will worship you;
they will sing your praises,
shouting your name in glorious songs.”
5 Come and see what our God has done,
what awesome miracles he performs for people!
6 He made a dry path through the Red Sea,
and his people went across on foot.
There we rejoiced in him.
7 For by his great power he rules forever.
He watches every movement of the nations;
let no rebel rise in defiance.
8 Let the whole world bless our God
and loudly sing his praises.
9 Our lives are in his hands,
and he keeps our feet from stumbling.
10 You have tested us, O God;
you have purified us like silver.
11 You captured us in your net
and laid the burden of slavery on our backs.
12 Then you put a leader over us.
We went through fire and flood,
but you brought us to a place of great abundance.
13 Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings
to fulfill the vows I made to you
