TEXT: JOB 2: 11 - 13.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: SORROW WITH THOSE WHO ARE SORROWING.
Satan, the greatest enemy of God and His people, never gets tired. In today's reading, he used Job's friends who heard the news of the disaster that befell him. They came to comfort him, that is to grieve and mourn with him according to their custom.
When they saw him, they wept bitterly (verse 12), and tore their clothes to console them. Eliphaz reprimanded him saying, "now your time of trouble has come, and you are confused and unable to hold on" (chapter 4: 5).
The intention of Eliphaz is that the suffering or disaster that Job has suffered is the result of the SIN he committed. This is a broad, misunderstanding of the power of the Almighty God to do what He pleases for His own glory.
Even today we have people like Job's friends. Job did not accept the criticism of his friends because he knows before God that he has not sinned. If God did not know Job, he would not give such a good testimony about him that he is trustworthy, fearful, calm and rejecting evil (chapter 1: 1).
Brethren, it is good for us to know that every time we suffer, it is not because of the sin we have committed. Let's examine ourselves so that we know if what we are doing is right before God. When we figure anything wrong, we should fix it.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: We should not blame or accuse anyone.
PRAYER: O Lord God, give me the heart of compassion and love like Job in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
