ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; FRIDAY 12TH JANUARY, 2024.
TEXT: 1 JOHN 2: 1 - 11.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: LET'S LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthian Church said that there are three things that are certain. That is, faith, hope and love, but the greatest of them is love (1 Cor. 13: 13). In today's reading, John explained the purpose of writing this letter.
That is because he wants those he wrote to, including us in this generation, to be holy, not living for Satan. Of course, sometime we sin, but we don't always do that. If we do, let's go to Jesus and ask for His forgiveness and help because He gave Himself for us.
We should know that Christ died to redeem us from our sins. He did this not only for us but for the whole world. That is why we must keep His commandments and obey Him without ceasing, which is necessary for us if we know Him for real.
Brothers, if we do not show by righteous living, any sign of knowing Him, then we are liars (verse 3). And there is no doubt that we cannot love God IF we refuse to love the brothers we see. Because God, the Creator, does not discriminate or differentiate in His love for humanity.
In other words, the rich and the poor, the white and the black, are all the same in His eyes. He loves all of us, therefore, it is really good that we also show Him that we love Him. Let's live and do deeds that will glorify Him until the world sees Him with dignity.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God's love has no limits.
PRAYER: O Lord God, fill me with Your kind love, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
