ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; TUESDAY 23RD JANUARY, 2024.
TEXT: 3 JOHN 1: 9 - 14.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: LET'S REJECT THE BAD EXAMPLES.
John in his previous comments told us how he prays for Gaius to walk in the truth (verse 3). Today, in this study, he explains the situation of Diotrephes and Demetrius. Diotrephes had ambitions to lead the Church but, unfortunately, he did not have the character of a leader.
Today, there are many "Diotrephes" in our Churches. They want glory and honor like the Pharisees. Diotrephes has a bad habit of hurting the saints and bad words, and he hates to accept non-believers, even expelling them from the Church, which is a bad attitude.
Brothers, let's avoid this behavior. Demetrius has good testimony from all people, and he loves the truth (verse 12) and this is a good behavior. This is what we should learn from the behavior of this man. Let's not emulate the bad part of such people, but the good part so that we will receive many blessings from God.
Let's not emulate Nabal's behavior (1 Samuel 25: 10, 11) a stingy man. If it wasn't for his wife, Abigail, he would have been destroyed. Brethren, let us be careful. Which character will you emulate? Of Diotrephes or of Demetrius?
Here is an advice like that of Joshua that gave to the children of Israel (25: 15) today choose the character of Demetrius and you will benefit greatly.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Kindness is a gift that does not go unrewarded.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, I am begging You, help me to be an example of good people in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
