ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; WEDNESDAY 20TH DECEMBER, 2023.
TEXT: JEREMIAH 4: 1 - 12.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: WHEN THE LORD CALLS, NO ONE REFUSES.
Yesterday we heard how the Lord decided to punish the Israelites for their disobedience and their prostitution. That is, they turn away from Him and worship other gods.
Today's reading shows that God is very generous because before executing judgment on a person, He does warn him. In our study, the Lord, out of love for His people, asks them to return to Him (vs. 1) and walk in His justice and righteousness.
Then they should purify themselves and fast for them to escape His wrath which is a terrible storm. This warning is not only for Israel, but also for us today. In life we must not go too far, we should return to our Creator, walking with Him in His justice and righteousness.
Doing so will save us from His coming wrath on those who do not fear Him. The prophet Jeremiah counseled the Israelites that if they do not turn to Jehovah, they would be defeated and taken captive to a foreign land. Brethren, the same thing can happen to us if we do not pay heed to this warning.
Satan, our enemy, will gain the upper hand over us, making us his slaves. Today we must not accept his deception, let us forsake wickedness, and do justice to please the Lord. In this way the nations will see His glory through our lives.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Sow evil, reap judgment.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, give me a repentant heart, that I may avoid Your coming wrath for the sake of Christ Jesus, Amen.
