ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; MONDAY 18TH DECEMBER, 2023.
TEXT: JEREMIAH 2: 1 - 19.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: ISRAEL IS IN DANGER.
We have already heard Jeremiah redeeming the time when the Lord calls him. It is possible that he did this because he knew the Lord's work was difficult.
His argument was rejected, and he had to deliver a message of condemnation to Israel. It starts by asking them to remember the past how blessed they were. But now they are far from the Lord because of their wickedness, they have strayed from the way of the Lord (vs. 5, 6, 8).
The Lord did not conceal from them the judgment that was to come upon them, that they should be carried to the land, which was not their place to live. Brethren, today there are evil followers, witches and sorcerers in the homes of mystical gangs, seeking help as if the living God could not help them.
No, of course, severe punishment is upon them. It was as if the Israelites had forgotten the good works that the Lord had done for them, the salvation through the death of Christ Jesus, their redemption from Satan's bondage.
Because Satan had already deceived them, they had no fear of God in their hearts. It was as if the children of Israel had gone deep into sin and are swimming in it. Brethren, today we have the opportunity to return to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness, it will be done for us in abundance.
If we refuse, the day we meet the Lord, He will say He does not know us. All our efforts to follow Him will be in vain, and we will be losers.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Today is the day of repentance.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, help me to answer Your call and be faithful to You in the name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
