ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; THURSDAY 14TH DECEMBER, 2023.
TEXT: JOHN 13: 12 - 20.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: JESUS LEFT US A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE.
The Lord Jesus Christ always had something to say, or teach to His followers. In today's study, he said, "Surely a slave is not better than his master." (vs. 16). If we know that Jesus is our Lord, we should imitate his humble, self-sacrificing spirit and follow his instructions.
We should not oppress our neighbors, but we are to be the salt He called but He says to us (Matthew 5: 13); friends who help one another, care for one another and care for one another. This will enable them to glorify our God.
In yesterday's study, Jesus did what His disciples should do. He thus commands them to follow the pattern He set for them. Brethren, this is a command for us today, that we should serve one another in love of Christ. Although Jesus included all His disciples in this command, He knew that Judas Iscariot was a traitor.
But He did everything to fulfill the prophecy, "You who jusge righteously.... do what is right in my eyes" (Ps. 9: 4; 140: 12). Today there are people called "Judas Iscariot" with whom we eat and drink with. They are our friends and neighbors, but they are against us. Brethren, no matter what happens, let us not become unfaithful to Jesus.
We should love them as Jesus did for the one who betrayed Him. Even though they hate us, they still practice hypocrisy.
Let us follow Jesus' example of doing good to receive God's blessing.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: He who betrays will be consumed by the betrayal.
PRAYER: Lord God, help me to follow in the footsteps of the grace Christ has left me for His name's sake, Amen.
