ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; FRIDAY 3RD NOVEMBER, 2023
TEXT: PSALMS 57: 1 - 11.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: DELIVERANCE FROM TRIBULATION.
Saul, Israel's first king, repeatedly sought to destroy David but David slipped and escaped (vs. 1 and 2). He wandered in the wilderness and lived in caves. In that sense, David did not rely on his past experience.
There was a time when he had the opportunity to kill Saul, but he refused, saying, he would never touch the anointed of God (1 Sam. 24: 6; 27: 11). Here David shows that he has the fear of God who hid him from Saul.
He also believed that God would send His angel to rescue him (vs. 3). David's words show that his help comes from heaven. Even we, if we trust in the Lord, our help will come. Therefore, brethren, let us pray continually, believing the Word of God.
Even if our enemies set traps for us, it will not find us because of the Lord's protection. King Saul kept hunting David, but David never prayed that God should destroy him. Finally, the Lord destroyed Saul because of his sins.
Followers of Christ, today we need to imitate David, that is, take all our concerns to the Lord and He will take care of it. Sadly, some followers who find themselves in difficult situations instead of running to the Lord, they go to witches and cult groups. This is incorrect.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The Lord knows our worries.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, teach me how to live in peace with my enemy in the name of Jesus, Amen.
PSALMS 57: 1 - 11 (KJV).
1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
