ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; THURSDAY 6TH OCTOBER, 2023.
TEXT: NUMBERS 10: 1 - 10.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: LISTEN TO THE LORD CONSTANTLY.
In human life, everything has it's time. In their wilderness journey the Israelites did not have the equipment we have today. The Lord allowed them to use the trumpets as we read. The flute was blown so that the people could gather, to begin the journey, to fight or to gather for the feast (verses 3-10).
It is good to note that, not everyone blows it, but only Aaron's sons, who are set apart by God. They teach people what God wants them to do wherever they are, and what people need to know. This is God's way of telling people what He wants them to do.
Today, there is a lot of development in communication through technical know-how. We do not have a whistle to tell us what to do, but the Lord in His power has provided us with ways to know His will. Examples are His Word, the Holy Bible, and His preachers, various books, radio and television broadcasts preached in different languages.
Happily, the Lord God does not leave us in the dark or in ignorance. If is a pity that some do not pay attention to these, we do things our own way, which do not glorify the Lord. We even want to know what lies ahead of us through demons. This is not right.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: We must not turn away from the Lord.
PRAYER: Lord God, help me to hear Your voice in my life in the name of Christ I Appeal, Amen.
NUMBERS 10: 1 - 10 (KJV).
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
3 And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
4 And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
5 When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.
6 When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.
8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God.
