ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 2023.
TEXT: ROMANS 6: 15 - 23.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: WE MUST OBEY GOD.
There is buying and selling in human life today. Everything a person buys becomes his property. In the days of ignorance people were sold as animals were bought. The person being sold becomes the property of his owner, that is, the slave of who bought him.
The servant has nothing to say, he has no right to own anything. He does not have the right to go where he wants at any time. Everything about Him revolves about his buyer, who has the power to kill him if he does not enjoy him.
This is what the Apostle Paul is telling us today. That is, anyone who engages in satanic worship has no right of himself, other than what Satan has to do with him. Therefore, it is good to avoid sin, for the end of sin is death.
But the worship of Christ Jesus is obedience that leads to eternal life. Sadly, today there are many people who do not pay attention to this day's message; they keep swimming, flying and living in sin. This ignorance leads to destruction. If we are to avoid destruction, we must serve Christ Jesus alone in truth.
We must not let the desires of the world deceive us and lead us astray. Let us be His true servants who have no sin.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The penalty for sin is death.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, help me to be your true servant in the name of Jesus I beseech You, Amen.
ROMANS 6: 15 - 23 (NIV).
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.
18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.
21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
