ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET; TUESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2023
TEXT: ROMANS 1: 24 - 32.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: EVIL DESIRES.
Today's reading is unpleasant because of the life or habits of others. The message is not just about the Romans, but about all of us. Like the Romans, we deny God the Creator, the Almighty. Like them we pay attention to vain desires. Let's be careful.
Because of this foolish life, the Lord dealt with the Romans. It is not wrong to say that the behavior of some of Christ's followers today is much than that of the Romans. Today, let us ask the Lord God to protect us from all attitudes that do not glorify Him. In our country.
In Nigeria, today evil deeds are being committed without fear of God. Every day there are murders, rapes, robberies, scams, atrocities, and so on. We Nigerians, like the Romans,profess to know God, with the number of Churches and Mosques everywhere as the gods of Athens (Acts 17: 16). There is no village on earth where is no place of worship.
But it is a pity we do not trust God; we do evil deeds and say we are helping Him. Brother, who are you? A sinful human being trying to help God the Almighty? Let's not hide behind sin, doing evil deeds as if we are doing God's work - may the Lord forgive us. Sadly, despite the number of Churches and Mosques in our country, sin is on the rise every day.
Religions and denominations, as well as homosexuals, are found in many places! Brethren, followers of Christ, let us flee from evil so as to please the Lord our God.
ROMANS 1: 24 - 32 (PIDGIN BIBLE).
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God's wrath is coming.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, in the name of Christ Jesus, grant me victory over vain and fearless attitude, Amen.
