TEXT: JOHN 4: 27 - 38.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: TELLING THE WORLD ABOUT GOD'S SALVATION.
In the passage we just read, the disciples were surprised to to find Jesus talking to a Samaritan woman. But what they are happy about is that they what Jesus was discussing with the woman will yield a good result. Since Jesus is God, He knows all human thoughts and actions.
He knew the power of His words to expose the sins that that the woman hid until she saw her weakness. This is because she accepted Jesus' word so shamelessly that she confessed her weakness to Him.
The knowledge of Jesus brings knowledge of sin to the sinner for salvation. Like the Samaritan, we must confess our sins to Jesus for forgiveness. The world is a large field that is ripe for harvest because many people have never hearded the salvation that Jesus brought for them.
There are also many who have heard but do not understand. It is the will of the Lord to bring them the good news of salvation through Christ, who died for us (Matthew 28:19). Christ Jesus left a model for us to follow in doing God's will.
That is, we should preach the gospel to the lost so that they may repent and have eternal life. Let us not allow the world to deceive us and prevent us from seeking the salvation of our brothers and sisters. On the way, Jesus met the woman and preached to her. The same is required of us. Let's go out to the people and tell them the good news of Jesus' salvation.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Seek the salvation of the lost.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beg You, help me to draw sinners to You, so that they may be saved in the name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
JOHN 4: 27 - 38 (KJV).
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
