ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET FRIDAY 1ST SEMESTER, 2023
TEXT: SONG OF SONGS 7: 6 - 13
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: THE LOVE OF THE BRIDE AND GROOM.
Every marriage where God is the foundation, is a blessing, and nothing is more pleasing to Him like that. In this type of marriage, nothing is lost because the blessings of the Lord are abundant. That is, peace, joy, patience and harmony are always there (Song of Songs 6: 6).
If we study this book carefully, the words we hear are: "my love, my girlfriend, your love, and so on. Today's study is about the groom, and so is the bride. The words they use, signify the bride and groom are together, and so is their heart.
This is the saying of the prophet Amos, that there is no way for two people to walk together unless they trust each other (Amos 3: 3). The secret of a happy marriage for Christ's followers is complete devotion to one another. That is, there is nothing hidden from one another, which is a sign of perfect love which God requies of those who believe in Him.
He willingly gave of Himself for our salvation, and therefore, He wants us to give our all to Him. Sadly, the love some who claim to be followers of Christ have for God is not from the heart. This is evident in the kind of life they lead which does not glorify God. Brethren, if we love God, we will also embrace Him from the heart in conversation, visits, and labors. We will always want to be with him.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Love The Lord with all your heart.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, help me, to love You and to walk in a life that glorifies Your name, Amen.
SONG OF SONGS 7: 6 - 13 (AMP).
6 [The king came forward, saying] How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights!
7 Your stature is like that of a palm tree, and your bosom like its clusters [of dates, declared the king].
8 I resolve that I will climb the palm tree; I will grasp its branches. Let your breasts be like clusters of the grapevine, and the scent of your breath like apples,
9 And your kisses like the best wine—[then the Shulammite interrupted] that goes down smoothly and sweetly for my beloved [shepherd, kisses] gliding over his lips while he sleeps!
10 [She proudly said] I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me!
11 [She said] Come, my beloved! Let us go forth into the field, let us lodge in the villages.
12 Let us go out early to the vineyards and see whether the vines have budded, whether the grape blossoms have opened, and whether the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love.
13 The mandrakes give forth fragrance, and over our doors are all manner of choice fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for you, O my beloved!
