ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET FRIDAY 25TH AUGUST, 2023
TEXT: SONG OF SONGS 1: 1 - 8
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: LOVE SONG.
The story of Solomon, son of David is well-known to followers of Christ. The Lord blessed him with the wisdom he requested which surpasses the people of the world (1 Kgs 4:30). Today's study is one of the songs sung by his beloved to soothe his heart.
There are many words in the song that she uses to show the kind of love she has for him (verses 2 to 8) that her lover is sweeter than wine (verse 2). Without a doubt, Jesus ' love for us is even greater than anything else in our life. His name reminds us of who He is, our Beloved One. Therefore, let us accept Him as our Lord, and we will live happily ever after in His shadow. Since He first loved us, it is good that we show Him same love (Ps. 45:15).
Unfortunately, the kind of words used in today's reading many couples do not say it from the heart. That is, what they say, is to satisfy their selfish desires. To be honest, misunderstandings in marriage can lead to divorce. Lack of honestly makes marriage unattractive today. Young people are engaged in unholy wedlock, immorality, abortion, etc. in this generation.
Therefore, we need to repent and ask God to give us a true loving heart.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Do I love like Jesus?
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, help me, that my love may not be in vain, but in Your name, Jesus, Amen.
SONG OF SONGS 1: 1 - 8 (KJV).
1 The song of songs, which is Solomon's.
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents
