ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET THURSDAY 24TH AUGUST, 2023
TEXT: JOHN 3: 31- 36
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: EVERYTHING IS UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS.
We have already heard that John longed for Jesus to increase while he decreases. He goes on to show us that whoever comes from above, is above all, that is, no one is greater than He. He that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
Therefore, every word that comes out of his mouth is pure truth, and he is convinced. In the words of Christ before His ascension, He said, "All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth" (Matt. 28:18), "but he who does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16) or encounter the wrath of the Lord. To avoid this, let us stand up and testify of Jesus Christ so that the lost may repent and have eternal life. Preaching the gospel is a work that the Lord has left for us His followers.
Unfortunately, today in some Churches, repentance is not preached for salvation. The missionaries and preachers of this generation are focused on preaching riches and false doctrines, saying that death is not our portion in Jesus' Name. Brethren, let us not be deceived, for God's word assures us that there is death, whether we like it or not (Heb. 9:27).
We do not even have to accept this delusion. If there is no death, where are the prophets - Elijah, Isaiah, David and others? Even Jesus Christ experienced death. If we do not bring the lost to Jesus for salvation, the Lord will require their blood at our hands.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Work is ahead of us.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beseech You, keep me safe, guide me not to fall into Your wrath in the name of Jesus, Amen.
JOHN 3: 31 - 36 (MSG).
31 "The One who comes from above is head and shoulders over other messengers from God. The earthborn is earthbound and speaks earth language; the heavenborn is in a league of his own.
32 He sets out the evidence of what he saw and heard in heaven. No one wants to deal with these facts.
33 But anyone who examines this evidence will come to stake his life on this: that God himself is the truth.
34 "The One that God sent speaks God's words. And don't think he rations out the Spirit in bits and pieces.
35 The Father loves the Son extravagantly. He turned everything over to him so he could give it away--a lavish distribution of gifts.
36 That is why whoever accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever! And that is also why the person who avoids and distrusts the Son is in the dark and doesn't see life. All he experiences of God is darkness, and an angry darkness at that."
