ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET WEDNESDAY 5TH JULY, 2023
TEXT:JUDE 8 – 16
SPIRITUAL FOCUS: THE LORD WILL JUDGE FALSE TEACHERS.
We have already heard that Jude, the faithful servant of Jesus Christ, advised his beloved brothers to beware of false teachers.
Today he continues to warn so that they know there are consequences for everything one does.
Therefore, false teachers will be punished by God for being deceitful and perverted. In the study today, this kind of teachers were likened to Cain and Balaam (Gen. 4 and Numbers 22-24) who were selfish and greedy.
These are the things that cause suffering and sorrow. There are still such people in our midst, teaching dishonesty. Like Balaam, they cause many people to stray from the path of truth, strait to destruction (Matthew 7: 1). Cain, in the end, got into a lot of trouble. Let us learn from Cain's experience and stand firm for the truth no matter what.
At all cost we should not allow ourselves to be deceived into believing prophecies from such evil men. As followers of Christ, we should test every teaching we hear, in the light of the Bible. John in his second letter says that there were deceivers who came out from them. Therefore, we are to test all the doctrines to detect all those that do not believe in the incarnation of Christ Jesus, and we must reject them as false teachings (v. 7).
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: False teachers will be punished by God.
PRAYER: Lord God, I beg you, teach me how to protect myself from false teachings in the name of Jesus, Amen.
