ERCC DEVOTIONAL (TEKAN) DAILY SPIRITUAL DIET THURSDAY 13TH JULY, 2023
A few days ago, we heard how Samson revealed to Delilah the secret of the strength that God had given him. The fall caused him to lose his strength. In today's reading, Samson's hair begins to grow back.
This means that if a believer falls, he can return to God again and grow spiritually. The philistines said that their god - Dagon has defeated the God of Samson - LORD God of Israel, Dagon, has head, breast hands, body like a fish. When they saw that Samson's hair had grown back, they took him and made him play spot for them. What a shame! The main of God fell because of covetousness.
Even in this day and age there are many followers who bring shame to the name of the Lord by living vain lives. The Philistines made Samson stand between the two pillars, the strengthhold of their god, where the leaders of the people, men, women, and children gathered to see Samson dance before them while they celebrate their victory over Samson and his God.
They thought that Samson was blind and could not do anything. Samson asked the Lord to remember him (vs. 28). The prayer enables the Lord to fulfill His promise to satisfy the needs of all who trust in Him. Samson then conceived the idea of "let me die with the philistines" (vs. 29). He gave his life so that the philistines could see the power of God. We know that every time a believer goes astray, the Lord will accept him when he returns to Him whole heartedly.
